CAR ACCIDENTS MAY LEAD TO FATAL INJURIES ON VIRGINIA HIGHWAY

Patel & Dalrymple, PLLC June 28, 2018

Three people tragically lost their lives in a recent crash in Virginia. The accident, which occurred along Route 28, apparently took place following an initial accident involving an animal. Sometimes, these types of car accidents happen due to a motorist’s negligence, in which case, the motorist may be held liable for any injuries or deaths resulting from the accident.

Police responded to the two-vehicle collision at about 9 p.m. on a Wednesday. According to authorities, a car had pulled over in the road’s left lane and was sitting partially on the shoulder following an accident involving an animal. At that time, another car was traveling south and approached the first car.

Three people were standing outside of the first car and ended up being struck by the second car. Unfortunately, all three passed away at the accident scene. The second car’s driver declined medical treatment. Authorities began to investigate the causes of the crashes and did not say whether any charges were expected.

If authorities find that the second car’s driver was driving too quickly and failed to pay attention to road conditions at the time of the crash, this driver may be held liable for the three deaths resulting from the collision. The three individuals’ loved ones in this situation may choose to file wrongful death claims against the driver, seeking damages. Once liability is established before the civil court hearing the case, damage claims will be decided. Financial damages resulting from a successfully litigated claim may help with addressing funeral costs and other losses associated with these types of car accidents in Virginia.
