STARTING A NEW JOB AND THE RISK OF AN INJURY

Patel & Dalrymple, PLLC Oct. 2, 2019

Workplace accidents can occur at any time, regardless of one’s line of work. Even highly experienced workers may find themselves involved in a mishap on the job, and these can lead to serious injuries. However, some people are especially vulnerable when it comes to workplace injuries, such as those who may not have very much experience in a certain field. Recently hired staff members may be more likely to find themselves in the middle of a workplace accident for multiple reasons, so it is imperative to be vigilant if you have recently started a new job or plan to take on a new role in the near future.

There are a lot of different reasons why new hires may be more likely to be hurt at work. First of all, they may not have as much familiarity with certain tools and various hazards that may be present. For example, they may not realize that a particular behavior or activity is especially dangerous, and it can be more difficult for them to avoid certain risks that a more experienced worker would have recognized immediately. On top of this, those who start new jobs may be under a lot of pressure, and high levels of stress can lead to a work-related accident. Starting a new job can also disrupt sleep schedules and create other problems that may lead to an on the job accident.

Sometimes, those who start new jobs are also hurt as a result of the negligence of another person, such as a careless coworker. Those injured while working should examine their legal options.
