VIRGINIA FAMILY WANTS UPGRADED CHARGES IN FATAL CAR CRASH

Patel & Dalrymple, PLLC Aug. 18, 2020

The loss of a family member is always difficult, but it may be especially so when loved ones feel that justice is not truly served in the aftermath of a preventable loss. In fact, a family in Virginia is now asking for upgraded charges against a woman who allegedly caused a fatal car crash. She is currently charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

The incident happened in Sept. 2019, but the 31-year-old woman accused of causing the accident was not taken into custody until August. Reports indicate that around 10 p.m., the woman’s vehicle ran off the highway. As a result, the vehicle struck two pedestrians.

According to a witness, the force of the impact threw one of the pedestrians, a 24-year-old male, into the air before he landed on his head. He was transported to the hospital where he later died from the injuries suffered in the collision. The second pedestrian suffered minor injuries. The driver allegedly fled the scene, but the vehicle’s license plate was left behind.

The deceased victim’s father claims that the charges against the woman accused of causing the fatal Virginia car accident do not match up with the harm that she caused. Even if the man does not receive the satisfaction he is demanding from the criminal justice system, he has other options for ensuring that justice is served. Many people who have lost a loved one in this manner have chosen to file a personal injury lawsuit against those deemed responsible. An attorney committed to treating clients with respect and kindness can help grieving family members fully understand their legal options and take appropriate action.
